How long have you been doing CrossFit? (Since Month, Year) November 2022
How did you first discover CrossFit and what made you decide to start?
“I first discovered CrossFit through my son and his fiancée. Watching how excited they were to show up every day was contagious. What drew me in even more was the all-around fitness approach, strength, endurance, mobility, all in one. It’s been both challenging and incredibly rewarding.”
Tell us about your fitness/sports background:
“I’ve always been active. I was an athlete in school and stayed committed to fitness throughout my life working out regularly and even coaching young gymnasts at a local gym. But for a long time, I wasn’t really focused on pushing my own limits or upping my game. Enter CrossFit, a game changer.”
What sorts of positive changes (mental, physical, emotional) have you noticed in your life since getting involved at No Excuses?
“CrossFit has made me stronger, healthier, and proud of what I’ve achieved so far, thanks to the supportive community, the people who inspire me every day, and my amazing coach, Christine.”
Who or what keeps you coming back and motivated?
“Knowing that staying healthy isn’t just about the physical it’s essential for my mental health too. Life and work can be stressful, but every workout helps me feel stronger, clearer, and more balanced. Plus, as a 57-year-old woman, lifting weights has become especially important for building strength, maintaining overall female health and wellness.”
In what other ways do you use your fitness?
“CrossFit has made a huge difference in my mountain biking too, improving my strength, core balance, and cardio fitness on the trails.”
Please share with us a favorite CrossFit or No Excuses moment.
“The 2025 Open was my first, and honestly, I was scared to enter. But once I did, the camaraderie and energy of the event were incredibly inspiring I’m so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone. Thanks to Dave and others for pushing me to enter.”
Name one goal you would like to achieve in the next year (doesn’t have to be CrossFit related, but it can be)
“Continue to build my strength and functional fitness. And to be happy.”
Tell us about your hobbies and interests outside of the gym:
“Outside the gym, I enjoy mountain biking, hiking, and occasionally kayaking.”
What advice do you have for someone just starting CrossFit or is on the fence about starting?
“If you’re on the fence about starting, don’t wait because the only regret you’ll have is not starting sooner. I’m 57 and started CrossFit almost three years ago, and I wish I’d found it earlier. Yes, it’s challenging, but you’ll surprise yourself with how much you’re capable of doing. You’ll gain strength, improve your overall health, happiness and find a supportive community of friends who cheer you on every step of the way.”
What do you love most about No Excuses?
“No Excuses CrossFit has given me a community where I truly fit in. Even though I’m older and from a different country, I’ve always felt welcome and supported it’s a place where I belong.”
