In August 2015, Eli walked into No Excuses CrossFit for the first time, not knowing how much his life was about to change. What started as a simple drive to work quickly turned into a passion that has redefined his approach to fitness and well-being.
“I keep coming because I have enjoyed building muscle and seeing a body transformation,” Eli shared, reflecting on the progress he’s made since joining. CrossFit has been more than just a workout for Eli—it’s been a journey of growth, both physically and mentally.
From Soccer Fields to Heavy Lifting
Eli’s athletic background included soccer and cardio activities like running and using the elliptical. However, CrossFit introduced him to a whole new level of fitness. “I was only using dumbbells for years. Now I handle that 45# bar and heavy deadlifts like a boss!” he said with pride.
CrossFit has not only enhanced his physical strength but also pushed him to challenge his limits in ways he never thought possible. “Where do I start?!” Eli exclaimed when asked about the one thing he never thought he could do before joining No Excuses CrossFit.
Inspired by Coaches, Driven by Community
Eli credits much of his success to the coaches at No Excuses CrossFit. “I would have to say the coaches; their dedication and passion to push and guide us through the WOD,” he said. The encouragement and guidance from the coaches have been instrumental in his fitness journey, helping him reach new milestones and surpass his expectations.
One of Eli’s proudest achievements was diving into the CrossFit Games Open, an experience he entered with little knowledge but left with a profound sense of accomplishment. “I signed up not really having a clue what it was! I got such a sense of healthy competition and enjoyed meeting other fellow members,” he shared.
Looking Forward: Goals and Advice
Eli’s journey is far from over. One of his goals is to achieve strict pull-ups, a challenge he’s determined to conquer with the same dedication that has brought him this far. His advice to new members? “In my experience, my advice would be to not doubt yourself, get out of your head, and push through the fear!! I’m a prime example!”
For Eli, CrossFit has been more than just a fitness regimen—it’s been a highlight of his life. “NECF has been the highlight of my year!! I never would’ve thought I’d start lifting weights at 40!! While I still have a long way to go, I’m truly proud of my ‘small daily achievements.’ Props to our dedicated coaches who help us thrive and the sense of camaraderie with fellow members. Cheers!”
