The CrossFit Open is over and No Excuses CrossFit had several athletes finish strong in the worldwide competition.
As a gym, No Excuses CrossFit finished 130th in the Southeast out of 366 gyms.
There were eight athletes that placed in the top 50 in the state in their division and were among the high placers in the region.
Greg Hayes was 14th in the state in the Masters 50-54 division, 51st in the Southeast and 491st in the world. The top 200 in the world qualify for Masters Regional. Jeff Gaskins was 29th in the state, 96th in the Southeast and 843rd in the world.
Barbara Parsons was No. 17 in the state for the 60-plus division, 40th in the region and 434th in the world. Robert Thornton was 29th in the state in the Masters 55-59 division and 109th in the Southeast.
This was the first year for a teen division and CrossFit rookie Makena Lundin placed 11th in the state in the Teenage girls 14-15 division and 36th in the Southeast, while Kaylee Therieau was 21st in the state.
Glen Wilkins was 48th in the state in the Masters 40-44 division and 158th in the Southeast, while Mario Macrina 73rd in the state and 289th in the Southeast.
Mathew Shamloo and Brandon Brigman tied for the top spot in the gym and the duo were close in the state and region standings. Mathew Shamloo was 152nd in the state in the Individual Mens division and 653rd in the Southeast, while Brandon Brigman 151st in the state and 661st in the Southeast.
Deb Walston was 37th in the state and 171st in the Southeast, while Laura Mattison was 124th in the state and 561st in the Southeast and Michelle Jones was 236th in the state and 951st in the Southeast.
Just five months after giving birth, Leslie Brigman was 135th in the Individual Women Scaled division out 1,272 women in the Southeast.
No Excuses CrossFit Spirit of the Games recipients were Jessica Hennen, Dennis Scales, Josef Roberts, Matt Ziesmer and Brandon Brigman. Each week one athlete was recognized for embodying the spirit of the sport of CrossFit.
As a gym, No Excuses raised $500 for the North Gwinnett Co-Op through a weekly couch auction that allowed auction winners to sit and take in the action of the Open workouts.
