Each year at the CrossFit Games, they honor someone with the Spirit of the Games award. This honor goes to the ‘athlete who embodies the spirit of the sport.’
Each week during the CrossFit Open, No Excuses CrossFit will recognize a member it feels represents the Spirit of the Games. This week’s honor goes to ….
John Schramm knew when he got to the second barbell of workout 25.3 that the cleans would be a challenge. The prescribed weight for his division was 95 pounds, which was above his current 1-rep max.
John didn’t shy away from the challenge, though. After a few failed attempts and some coaching pointers, John was able to clean 95 pounds and set a new personal record.
“He always gives all he’s got,” longtime No Excuses CrossFit member Jenny Fancher said. “He doesn’t care that he’s working at his own level, he constantly gives his best!
Added No Excuses CrossFit member Helen Hendrix, “John is so strong. It was awesome to see him work hard to hit a PR during The Open.”
Congrats John on your new clean personal record and completing the CrossFit Open.
