How long have you been CrossFitting? Since March of 2011.

What keeps you coming back/motivated?
“If you work hard enough you will keep seeing results. For me, CrossFit is never boring, there are so many different workouts you can do and there is always something to improve on. In addition, I love the family type atmosphere and camaraderie.”

How did you find CrossFit?
“One of my Marine buddies introduced me to CrossFit about 2.5 years ago.”

What is your athletic background (If applicable)?
“I ran track/cross county, wrestled, and played basketball in high school. After high school I enlisted in the Marines (so I got pretty good at push-ups and pull ups). For several years after high school I did the Globo gym/bodybuilding thing then I got into doing in triathlons and P90X type workouts to get more of a well-rounded level of fitness. Then I found CrossFit, and haven’t looked back since.”

How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
“I have always tried to lead a healthy and active lifestyle, but CrossFit has definitely kicked my fitness and eating habits up a level. I think the main difference between what I was doing before CrossFit is now when I train, I train with a purpose.”

What is the one thing you have done here that you never thought you could do? (muscle up, double unders, heavy deadlift, run a mile, etc.)
“I don’t think there is anything I didn’t think I could do because I believe if you work hard enough and long enough at something eventually you will achieve a goal. However, just recently I got the hang of kipping handstand push-ups, they were my nemesis.”

What motivates/inspires you?
“I’m a pretty competitive athlete, so I try be competitive with the top CrossFitters at No excuses. I can’t slack off or they’ll leave me in the dust.”

What is your proudest CrossFit achievement?
“Getting my wife Jami to join No Excuses!!”

Name one goal/personal achievement you would like to achieve through CrossFit?
“I would like to help the No Excuses team make it to the CrossFit regionals next year.”

What goals have you achieved in CrossFit?
“Sub 3 min Fran, Clean over 225 pounds.”

Hobbies/Interests outside of CrossFit?
“Georgia Tech football, golf, fishing, and hanging out with my wife Jami.”

What is your favorite meal?
“Favorite Paleo meal would be my wife’s Paleo meatloaf. Non-Paleo meal would be pizza J.”

Any advice for new members?
“Consistency is the key to success, and always work toward goals and getting better.”

Coach Brandon’s comment:
“Scot has been one of the gym’s top athletes since he stepped foot in the gym. Scot likes to mask his competitive drive with his quiet demeanor. However, you know he’s always going to give you 100 percent in a WOD and it’s always a pleasure to try and hang with him.”
